The ACT consists of four sections: English, Mathematics, Reading & Writing and Science. It is a standardized test that measures academic achievement in English, mathematics and science skills. The exam is offered in English only. You can take the ACT at many different testing centers around the country each year between October and January.

Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)

The GMAT stands for Graduate Management Admission Test. It is a standardized test administered by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). This exam is mainly used by MBA programs but can also be taken by other graduate schools as well as colleges and universities. The GMAT is a series of four tests — Verbal Reasoning (30 questions), Quantitative Reasoning (60 questions), Analytical Writing Assessment (15 questions) and Integrated Reasoning Assessment (35 questions) — that are intended to assess your potential for success in business school. The exam is offered twice per year: April/May and October/November.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

IELTS is an international English language testing system established by the British Council to assess English language proficiency of non-native speakers of English worldwide. The IELTS is designed to be used by institutions to gauge the level of English required for higher education courses, entry into work or immigration purposes, while also allowing those without native proficiency in English to demonstrate their skills and knowledge through tests taken under controlled conditions. Test for English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

TOEFL is a standardized test administered by ETS (Educational Testing Service), a non-profit organization based in Princeton, New Jersey. TOEFL tests are accepted by over 1,000 institutions globally with some 70% of all U.S. universities among them; these include universities in Canada, Mexico, Australia and many others around. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is used by institutions of higher education and non-degree granting schools to evaluate English proficiency for admission. The test is divided into four parts: reading, listening, speaking and writing. The essay section asks students to write about an issue they are passionate about in their own words. Students who take the IELTS can sit for the TOEFL without preparing for it beforehand.


MCAT is a standardized test administered by the Educational Testing Service and is required for medical schools. It is not required for all schools, but most require it to be taken before you can apply.

The MCAT is offered three times a year, in February, June, and October. The exam takes two hours and 50 minutes to complete. If you choose to take the exam online, you will need to register with ETS up to six weeks prior to your scheduled exam date. There are five sections on the MCAT: (1) Physical Science (2) Verbal Reasoning; (3) Biological Sciences; (4) Psychological/Social Sciences; and (5) Writing Sample.


LSAT is offered multiple times throughout the year at local testing centers across the country. The LSAT is a standardized test that measures critical thinking ability in a variety of subject areas including reading comprehension, logic games and writing skills. The score you receive on the LSAT determines how high your score will be compared to other applicants who take the test at that time. The LSAT is offered in over 1,000 testing centers around the world and is administered by Law School Admission Council (LSAC). The test costs $205 and includes a score report with detailed feedback and recommendations from an independent researcher that helps you understand what to work on next.
