BITSAT Exam with 5 Expert Tips and Strategies The Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test are known as BITSAT. The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) administers a computer-based entrance exam for admission to its integrated first-degree programmes, which are available at the BITS Pilani, BITS Goa, and BITS Hyderabad campuses. What has BITSAT 2024 added?

  • Prior to admissions for the academic session, the BITSAT 2024 exam will be administered in two sessions.

  • It is also possible for candidates who did not apply for Session 1 to apply for Session 2.
  • It is not mandatory for candidates to take the test in both sessions; however, if they do show up for both, the higher score will be taken into account.

Exam pattern

  • Candidates must reserve a time slot for the computer-based test.
  • There will be four sections to the exam, which will last three hours.
  • The test's different parts have no time restriction.
  • In total, 130 questions will be asked.
  • Every question will be a multiple-choice question (MCQ), meaning that there will be four options total, with only one being the right answer.
  • Every right response earns three marks, while every wrong response costs one mark (-1 mark).
  • Questions that are not attempted are not graded.
  • Among the 130 questions, the applicants have the option to go back and modify any of their responses.

5 tips and strategies to ace the BITSAT

  1. Recognise the Syllabus and Exam format: Become acquainted with the syllabus and exam format for the BITSAT. Recognise how marks are assigned, what sections there are, and what kinds of questions are asked in each section. The four areas of the BITSAT exam are English Proficiency & Logical Reasoning, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology (For B.Pharm).
  2. Practice Frequently: The secret to learning BITSAT is practice. Solve as many example papers and question papers from prior years as you can. To help you become more comfortable with the exam setting and sharpen your time management abilities, think about taking online practice exams.
  3. Work on Time Management: Since you only have a short amount of time to answer a lot of questions on the BITSAT, time management is essential. Try answering questions in a timed manner to increase your accuracy and speed.

Note

  • If there is still time, a candidate may attempt 12 additional questions if they answer all 130 questions (without omitting any).
  • There will be three questions from each of the following subjects: Logic, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, and Logical Reasoning.
  • Additionally, after the candidate selects additional questions, they are unable to go back and change any of the 130 questions they already responded to.

The requirements

  • Applicants must have passed the 10+2 system's class 12 exam from an accredited Central or State board, or its equivalent.
  • A minimum of 75% overall in PCM/PCB and at least 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biochemistry are required.
  • Only a candidate's most recent performance in the qualifying exam is taken into account if they have attempted the exam more than once, as long as they completed all required subjects and courses.
  • Applicants should be sufficiently fluent in English.

The year of the qualifying examination appearance

  • Students may only appear if they are taking the 12th grade exam in 2024 or if they passed it in 2023.
  • It is not acceptable for students who passed their class 12 exam in 2022 or earlier to show up.

Registration

  • Phase I registration for the BITSAT 2024 exam will open on January 15, 2024, and Phase II registration will open on May 22, 2024.
  • Applicants may submit an application for one or both of the sessions.
  • Applications must be submitted by April 11, 2024, for Phase I, April 16, 2024, and June 10, 2024, for Phase II.
  • After attending the first session, candidates may also apply for the second one.
  • It is also possible for candidates who did not apply for Session 1 to apply for Session 2.

Core/results

  • Following the test, a computer screen will display the candidate's results, including the total number of right and wrong answers as well as their BITSAT score.
  • On the day following the test, the candidate can also view their score report on the BITS admission website.

Merit list

  • Based on their BITSAT scores, the merit position of qualified candidates—those who took the test and filed an application for admission with their 12th grade marks, preferences, and the necessary fees—will be determined.
  • If an applicant has taken the BITSAT twice, admission will be based on the better of the two results.
  • For admission, two distinct merit lists will be created. One is for every programme save B.Pharm. And the other is exclusive to B.Pharm.

Applying for the registration

  • Candidates must apply for admission to BITS, providing information about their 12th grade grades and their preferences for the various degree programmes offered, in addition to applying for and participating in BITSAT.
  • The BITS website will provide the final list of degree programmes offered the necessary application form for admission, and the whole application process.
  • On or before the deadline, the filled-out application form and the necessary application fee must be submitted online at the BITS admission portal.
  • If an applicant has taken the BITSAT twice, admission will be based on the better of the two results.

What is a good score in the BITSAT?

So what does a decent BITSAT score look like? Generally speaking, a decent score on the BITSAT 2024 exam is greater than 300 out of a possible 390 marks, while a very good score is greater than 350. But the precise cutoff score changes every year depending on things like the exam's difficulty and the volume of applicants. The cutoff has fluctuated between 280 and 370 in previous years, with higher cutoffs for popular subjects like electronics and computer science. The counselling process for BITSAT 2024 is divided into six rounds.
