VITEEE Eligibility Criteria 2026: Age Limit, Marks, Subjects & Nationality
To be eligible for VITEEE 2026, a candidate must be an Indian national, NRI, PIO or OCI holder, born on or after 1 July 2004, and must have passed — or be appearing in 2026 for — Class 12 (10+2) or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology, securing a minimum 60% aggregate in these subjects.

Nationality Requirement
VITEEE 2026 is open to Indian nationals — both resident and non-resident (NRI) — as well as holders of PIO (Person of Indian Origin) and OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) cards. NRI applicants must apply under the "NRI category" while filling the VITEEE 2026 application form. Foreign nationals can seek admission through VIT's separate international application route rather than through VITEEE.
What Is the Age Limit for VITEEE 2026?
Candidates must have been born on or after 1 July 2004 to be eligible. The date of birth recorded on your Class 10 (high school) certificate is treated as final. There is no upper-age relaxation for any category.
Qualifying Examination and Subjects
To be eligible, you must have passed — or be appearing in 2026 for — the final examination of Class 12 (10+2) or an equivalent, having studied Physics and Chemistry along with Mathematics or Biology. English and Aptitude are additionally assessed within the exam itself, so it helps to review the VITEEE 2026 exam pattern before you apply.
The following qualifying examinations are accepted:
- The final 10+2 examination of the CBSE, ICSE, or any recognised State Board.
- Intermediate or a two-year Pre-University (PUC) examination of a recognised board or university.
- GCE Advanced (A) Level examination (London / Cambridge / Sri Lanka).
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma from the IB Office, Geneva (see subject-level requirements below).
- NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) candidates with a minimum of five subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology and English. A Migration-cum-Transfer Certificate must be submitted at the time of joining.
- Candidates who completed 10+2 outside India or from any board not listed above must produce an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with grades/CGPA converted to a percentage.
Note: Diploma holders and candidates whose only qualification is a part-time or vocational certificate are not eligible for VITEEE 2026.
Subject Requirements for International Boards (A-Level / IB)
Candidates from Cambridge / Pearson Edexcel (A-Level) and IB streams must satisfy these subject levels:

Whichever board you are from, VIT does not normalise marks across boards — it simply checks that your calculated subject-wise and aggregate percentages meet the minimums above.
Minimum Marks Required
The qualifying-mark requirement depends on your category:
- General category: a minimum aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) or Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) in the 10+2 examination, and not less than 50% in Mathematics (for PCM) or Biology (for PCB).
- SC/ST candidates and candidates from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and the North-Eastern states (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura): a minimum aggregate of 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology. A community or nativity certificate must be produced at counselling.

Branch (Stream) Eligibility: PCM vs PCB
The subjects you attempt in VITEEE decide which B.Tech branches you can be admitted to. It's worth checking the VIT entrance exam syllabus 2026 before locking your subject group.

State Eligibility & Other Conditions
- If you pass Class 12 in one state and later appear for improvement from another, your state of eligibility is the state where you first passed Class 12.
- Candidates who have taken more than one board examination in the same academic year are not permitted to appear for VITEEE.
- Candidates appearing for Class 12 in 2026 can apply now and must submit their marksheet meeting the eligibility criteria at the time of counselling.

Are diploma holders eligible for VITEEE 2026?
