BITSAT 2025 Session 2 Eligibility Criteria – A Complete Guide for Students

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT) holds an important place among India’s engineering admission tests. Many students each year apply to have a chance to go to BITS in Pilani, Goa or Hyderabad. BITSAT 2025 will take place in two sessions, as in previous years. Most of the time, Session 1 is organised in May and Session 2 takes place in June. Session 2 allows students who missed or performed poorly in the first class to appear again and try to improve. However, before you register, it is extremely important to understand the
BITSAT 2025 Session 2 eligibility criteria. In this blog, we clearly describe every detail of the rules for student loan eligibility.
Who Can Apply for BITSAT 2025 Session 2?
For BITSAT 2025 Session 2, you must have the right academic backdrop, take certain subjects and fall under certain passing years. All candidates, even returning ones, are required to meet the same requirements. What are the major criteria you have to meet?
Academic Qualification Criteria
Your educational background is the main thing that matters most in this process. To be eligible for BITSAT 2025, you should have cleared or should be appearing for the Class 12 board exam (or its equivalent) in the years 2024 or 2025. The test must have come from a Central or State board approved by Indian or foreign authorities. Any student who passed Class 12 before 2023 can never apply for BITSAT 2025.
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics were all core subjects you had to study in Grade 12. You also need to have a strong grasp of the English language. These subjects are required for all B.E. programs.
Minimum Marks Requirement
Just clearing Class 12 is not sufficient. You also must secure minimum marks in your board exams so that you may be eligible for BITSAT 2025 Session 2. According to the latest updates, a candidate must have achieved a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in PCM in case of applying for an engineering course. Likewise, in the case of students taking B. Pharm, PCB must have 75% aggregate.
Also, it is necessary to obtain a minimum of 60% marks separately in each of the three subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology). If you get below 60 in any one of the subjects, you will not be eligible, regardless of your aggregate percentage above 75.
Age Limit for BITSAT 2025 Session 2
There is no hard and fast age limit for BITSAT, unlike many other competitive exams in India. But it indirectly restricts age qualification because only students who passed Class 12 in the years 2024 or 2025 are permitted. Thus, practically, only those students who are of the correct age group of recent school pass-outs can attend. This implies, as a rule, students aged between 17 and 19 years will qualify. Any student who passed Class 12 before 2023 is not permitted, irrespective of age.
Number of Attempts Allowed
BITSAT provides students with a chance to appear for the entrance test just two times in total, once in Session 1 and once in Session 2, within the same year. What this implies is that if you appear for Session 1 and want to increase your score, you can reappear in Session 2. But if you miss Session 1, you can directly appear in Session 2. However, no candidate can appear in BITSAT more than two times in one academic year.
And also, there is no limit to the number of attempts over the years, provided the candidate meets the passing year requirement. Which means you cannot attempt BITSAT again in 2026 if you passed Class 12 in 2024. The only students who can participate in BITSAT 2025 are those who passed in 2025 or those who are appearing in 2025.
Direct Admission for Board Toppers
BITS Pilani has always nurtured academic excellence. So, if you are a topper of your board, either from a Central or State Board, you are entitled to direct admission to the program of your choice, irrespective of your BITSAT score. But even board toppers should have studied PCM or PCB as per the course requirement and must meet the minimum marks criterion. BITS selects toppers based on board-published merit lists or the combined Class 12 marks as per BITS calculation norms.
Can You Apply Only for Session 2?
Yes, you can. Registration for Session 1 and Session 2 takes place individually. If you do not register for Session 1 or do not wish to appear in it for some reason, you may straightaway apply for Session 2 when its registration is announced. You will not be disadvantaged if you turn up only for Session 2. But appearing for both sessions increases your opportunity to achieve a higher score.
Notice that candidates who attend both sessions will have their highest of the two scores taken into consideration for admissions. Therefore, if you feel like you did poorly during Session 1, Session 2 is an excellent chance.

Other Important Eligibility Notes
1. Admission Is Not Just Based on BITSAT Score
Though the BITSAT score is crucial, the admission is based on satisfying the eligibility criteria, particularly the marks secured in your board exams. You can be a high scorer in BITSAT, but you won't be considered if you fail to achieve the minimum percentage in PCM/PCB and English.
2. Only Online Mode
BITSAT is held exclusively in an online (computer-based) mode. Ensure that you are accustomed to operating a computer system for your test.
3. Foreign Students
NRI or Foreign students can also seek admission in BITS campuses, but they do not take BITSAT. Their admission is on the basis of SAT Subject Test (also referred to as SAT II) marks. But such students must also meet the academic eligibility conditions for subjects and marks.
